Mr. Young (for himself and Mr. Peters) introduced the following bill;
which was read twice and referred to the Committee on Commerce,
Science, and Transportation

A BILL

To direct the Secretary of Transportation to carry out a national
public safety messaging campaign relating to the dangers of illegal
passing of stopped school buses, and for other purposes.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1.

This Act may be cited as the ``Brake for Kids Act of 2025''.
SEC. 2.

(a) In General.--Not later than 1 year after the date of enactment
of this Act, the Secretary of Transportation (referred to in this
section as the ``Secretary'') shall carry out, including through
production and distribution of relevant communications and messaging
materials, a national public safety messaging campaign to increase
awareness and education about the dangers of illegal passing of stopped
school buses.

(b) Methods of Communication.--In carrying out the national public
safety messaging campaign under subsection

(a) , the Secretary--

(1) shall include, as part of the campaign--
(A) television advertising and advertising time on
national broadcasts with a wide audience; and
(B) radio, social media, or other advertisement
messaging; and

(2) may take steps to ensure that the campaign is not
limited to digital downloads or regional distribution.
(c) Funding.--The Secretary may carry out the national public
safety messaging campaign under subsection

(a) using amounts otherwise
made available to the Secretary to carry out public safety messaging
campaigns.
