Ms. Smith (for herself and Ms. Klobuchar) introduced the following
bill; which was read twice and referred to the Committee on Finance

A BILL

To amend the Act of October 19, 1973, to increase the maximum dollar
amount of per capita shares for purposes of eligibility for financial
assistance or other benefits under Federal or federally assisted
programs, and for other purposes.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1.

(a) In General.--
Section 7 of the Act of October 19, 1973 (25 U.
U.S.C. 1407), is amended, in the undesignated matter following
paragraph

(4) , by striking ``$2,000'' and inserting ``$5,000''.

(b) Technical Corrections.--
Section 7 of the Act of October 19, 1973 (25 U.
1973 (25 U.S.C. 1407), is amended--

(1) in paragraph

(1) , by striking ``, or'' and inserting a
comma; and

(2) in paragraph

(4) , by striking ``cede'' and inserting
``ceded''.
