Mr. Heinrich introduced the following bill; which was read twice and
referred to the Committee on Armed Services

A BILL
To amend title 10, United States Code, to reduce the distance required
for the Secretary of Defense to reimburse travel expenses relating to
specialty care, and for other purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1.
This Act may be cited as the ``TRICARE Travel Improvement Act''.
SEC. 2.
RELATING TO SPECIALTY CARE.
Section 1074i of title 10, United States Code, is amended--
(1) in subsection
(a) --
(A) by striking ``In any case'' and inserting
``Except as provided in subsection
(b) , in any case'';
and
(B) by striking ``100 miles'' and inserting ``50
miles''; and
(2) in subsection
(b) --
(A) by striking the heading and inserting ``Special
Rules for Exceptional Circumstances and Military
Retirees and Dependents.
(1) in subsection

(b) , in any case'';
and
(B) by striking ``100 miles'' and inserting ``50
miles''; and
(2) in subsection
(b) --
(A) by striking the heading and inserting ``Special
Rules for Exceptional Circumstances and Military
Retirees and Dependents.--'';
(B) by striking ``The Secretary of Defense'' and
inserting ``
(1) The Secretary of Defense''; and
(C) by adding at the end the following new
paragraph:
``
(2) With respect to military retirees and their dependents, the
Secretary shall administer subsection
(a) by substituting `100 miles'
for `50 miles'.''.
