August 15, 2025

Mr. Bresnahan (for himself, Ms. Tenney, Mr. Lawler, Mr. Nunn of Iowa,
Mrs. Kiggans of Virginia, Mr. Kean, and Mr. Fitzpatrick) submitted the
following resolution; which was referred to the Committee on Ways and
Means

RESOLUTION

Supporting the commemoration of August 14, 2025, as the 90th
anniversary of the establishment of Social Security.

Whereas, on August 14, 1935, the Social Security Act was signed into law,
establishing a landmark Federal program to provide economic security for
elderly Americans;
Whereas Social Security has contributed to the economic stability and dignity of
older Americans for 9 decades; and
Whereas the program remains a vital pillar of America's social safety net and is
supported by the hard work and contributions of American workers and
employers: Now, therefore, be it
Resolved, That the House of Representatives supports the
commemoration of the 90th anniversary of the Social Security Act (42
U.S.C. 301 et seq.).
