RESOLUTION

Celebrating 50 years of Bruce Springsteen's album, ``Born to Run''.

Whereas Bruce Springsteen was born on September 23, 1949, at Monmouth Medical
Center in Long Branch, New Jersey;
Whereas every September 23 is recognized as Bruce Springsteen Day in the State
of New Jersey;
Whereas Bruce Springsteen is one of the world's best-selling artists, with tens
of millions of records sold worldwide and hundreds of millions of
streams on online platforms;
Whereas Bruce Springsteen has won 20 Grammy Awards, 2 Golden Globes, an Oscar,
and a Special Tony Award;
Whereas Bruce Springsteen was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in
1999;
Whereas Bruce Springsteen was awarded the Kennedy Center Honors in 2009;
Whereas Bruce Springsteen was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by
President Barack Obama in 2016;
Whereas Bruce Springsteen was awarded the National Medal of Arts by President
Joseph R. Biden in 2023;
Whereas the Bruce Springsteen Archives & Center for American Music at Monmouth
University in Long Branch, New Jersey, was established in 2017 to
preserve his significant legacy and celebrate the history of American
music;
Whereas Bruce Springsteen's breakthrough album ``Born to Run'' was released on
August 25, 1975;
Whereas Bruce Springsteen wrote all 8 songs of ``Born to Run'' at his home on
West End Court in Long Branch, New Jersey;
Whereas ``Born to Run'' sonically captures a classic era of working-class
America and summers on the Jersey Shore;
Whereas ``Born to Run'' is certified 7 times platinum in the United States,
selling over 7,000,000 physical copies;
Whereas, in 2024, Apple Music ranked ``Born to Run'' number 22 in its list of
the ``Top 100 Best Music Albums of All Time'';
Whereas ``Born to Run's'' titular song became Bruce Springsteen's first
appearance on the Billboard Top 100;
Whereas Rolling Stone magazine ranked ``Born to Run'' as the 27th best song of
all time in 2024;
Whereas, in 2003, the Library of Congress inducted ``Born to Run'' into the
National Recording Registry for being ``culturally, historically, or
aesthetically significant''; and
Whereas, on June 12, 1980, the New Jersey State Assembly unanimously passed
Assembly Concurrent Resolution Number 121, to declare Bruce Springsteen
New Jersey's Pop Music Ambassador to America, and to make ``Born to
Run'' the unofficial song of New Jersey's youth: Now, therefore, be it
Resolved, That the House of Representatives--

(1) congratulates Bruce Springsteen, E Street Band Members
Roy Bittan, Clarence Clemons, Garry Tallent, Max Weinberg,
Ernest Carter, Danny Federici, David Sancious, and all others
who contributed 50 years ago to the musical masterpiece that is
``Born to Run'';

(2) celebrates Bruce Springsteen's mark on American music,
culture, and the great State of New Jersey; and

(3) recognizes the importance of Federal investments in the
arts and encourages continued support in nurturing American
music and culture.
