purposes.

Mr. Perry introduced the following bill; which was referred to the
Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure

A BILL

To amend title 23 and title 49, United States Code, to prohibit funds
from certain programs to be used to fund streetcars, and for other
purposes.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1.

This Act may be cited as the ``No Desire for Streetcars Act''.
SEC. 2.

(a) Surface Transportation Block Grant Program.--
Section 133 of title 23, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following: `` (l) Prohibition on Streetcar Funding.

(l) Prohibition on Streetcar Funding.--Notwithstanding any other
provision of this section, amounts apportioned to a State for each
fiscal year to carry out this section may not be used for the
procurement, operation, or maintenance of a streetcar.''.

(b) Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement Program.--
Section 149 (c) of title 23, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following: `` (5) Streetcars.

(5) Streetcars.--No funds may be provided under this
section for a project for streetcars.''.
(c) Urbanized Area Formula Grants.--
Section 5307 of title 49, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following: `` (i) Prohibition on Streetcar Funding.

provision of this section, grant funds provided under this section may
not be used for the procurement, operation, or maintenance of a
streetcar.''.
(d) Fixed Guideway Capital Investment Grants.--
Section 5309 of title 49, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following: `` (s) Prohibition on Streetcar Funding.
