the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Agriculture

A BILL

To amend the Agricultural Research, Extension, and Education Reform Act
of 1998 to authorize the Secretary of Agriculture to waive the matching
funds requirement under the specialty crop research initiative, and for
other purposes.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1.
INITIATIVE.
Section 412 (g) (3) of the Agricultural Research, Extension, and Education Reform Act of 1998 (7 U.

(3) of the Agricultural Research, Extension, and
Education Reform Act of 1998 (7 U.S.C. 7632

(g)

(3) ) is amended--

(1) in subparagraph
(A) , by striking ``An entity'' and
inserting ``Subject to subparagraph
(C) , an entity''; and

(2) by adding at the end the following:
``
(C) Waiver.--With respect to a grant awarded
under this section on or after the date of enactment of
this subparagraph, the Secretary may waive the matching
funds requirement under subparagraph
(A) .''.
