respect to certain uniform requirements for United States immigration

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1.
Section 287 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.
is amended by adding at the end the following:
``
(h)
(1) The Secretary of Homeland Security shall require covered
immigration officers to identify themselves as such officers by
displaying bold and visible identification during a time of action.
``
(2) For the purposes of this subsection--
``
(A) the term `bold and visible identification'
means--
``
(i) identification of the agency that the
covered immigration officer represents no
smaller than 12 inches by 6 inches on the front
or back of the uniform of such officer; and
``
(ii) the identification described under
clause
(i) is not covered by external pieces of
a uniform, including external armor or
accessories;
``
(B) the term `covered immigration officer'
means--
``
(i) personnel of the U.S. Customs and
Border Protection;
``
(ii) personnel of the U.S. Immigration
and Customs Enforcement; and
``
(iii) any other official deputized by the
Secretary of Homeland Security to engage in
immigration enforcement actions.
``
(C) the term `time of action' includes any
immigration enforcement action such as a patrol, raid,
pickup, or serving a warrant.''.
