Mr. Kennedy of New York introduced the following bill; which was
referred to the Committee on Agriculture

A BILL

To temporarily expand the supplemental nutrition assistance program
income eligibility of households that include certain veterans.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1.

This Act may be cited as the ``Setting the Table for Transition
Act''.
SEC. 2.
INCLUDE CERTAIN VETERANS.

For the purpose of determining income under the Food and Nutrition
Act of 2008 (7 U.S.C. 2011 et seq.) during the 100-day period that
begins on the date a veteran receives a Report of Separation (DD form
214) of a household that includes a member who is a veteran, only the
income of such veteran shall be considered.
SEC. 3.

For purposes of this Act, the term ``veteran'' means an individual
who served in the active military, naval, or air service, and who was
discharged or released therefrom under conditions other than
dishonorable.
SEC. 4.

This Act shall take effect 90 days after the date of the enactment
of this Act.
